The S3 Platform is delighted to announce its next peer-review workshop: ’Stakeholder Engagement and the RIS3 Governance’. The workshop will be co-organised by the Smart Specialisation platform and the region of Pohjanmaa (Ostrobothnia), Finland.
The workshop will be held on 14th -15th of May 2013 in the University of Vaasa, Vaasa, Finland.
Building on the experience gained from the previous seven peer-review workshops organised by the S3 Platform, this workshop will employ the peer-review methodology as an instrument to support EU regions and Member States in the development of their RIS3 (research and innovation strategies for smart specialisation).
During the workshop, four European regions Ostrobothnia (FI), Languedoc-Roussillon (FR), Lubelskie (PL) and Piedmont (IT) will present their current work on RIS3. The rest of workshop participants will be asked to act as ‘critical friends’ and discuss the strategies of the four regions under review. The peer review sessions are an excellent opportunity to discuss RIS3 strategies with other regions and experts. Please read more about the S3 peer review methodology here.
The workshop will include a session on the topic of regional governance of RIS3. The session will explore the possibilities and challenges with different approaches to governance of a RIS3 process and offer tools for stakeholder engagement in a quadruple helix partnership.
The workshop will also include a session on transnational learning, with results from the previous peer review workshops of the platform and with suggestions for further networks.
Please note that the workshop will be held over two days with a dinner at the end of day 1. The region of Ostrobothnia invites all participants to attend a study tour at the end of day 2.
Please note that while participation in the event is free of charge, the workshop participants will be responsible for their travel and accommodation costs.
